Nottinghamshire Police have announced the successful capture of a notorious drug dealer who had been operating in the Hucknall area. The dealer, whose name has not been released, was arrested last Thursday (February 16) after a long and complex investigation.
The arrest was the result of a joint operation between the police and other law enforcement agencies, including the local council and community safety team. The dealer was believed to be responsible for a significant amount of drug-related crime in the area, including the operation of a drug den on Spring Street.
The den was shut down by the council in a separate operation earlier this year, following repeated complaints from residents about anti-social behavior and criminal activity. The closure order, which remains in force until May 15, was obtained under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
In a statement, Chris Sutcliffe, neighbourhoods Chief Inspector for Nottinghamshire Police, said: "The capture of this drug dealer is a significant achievement for our team and for the community of Hucknall. Drug-related crime can have a devastating impact on local communities, and we are committed to doing everything we can to tackle this issue."
The arrest has been welcomed by local residents, who have expressed their relief and gratitude to the police and other agencies for their efforts in improving the safety and wellbeing of the community. Councillor Lee Waters, who represents Hucknall North, said: "This arrest is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the police and other agencies involved in the operation. It sends a clear message that drug-related crime will not be tolerated in Hucknall, and that we are committed to making our community a safer and better place to live."
